The chair across the table
Performance, Text, five pop-up cards in handmade envelopes. (14.5X9 cm)
In this project, I eat alone in several restaurants in the city of Ramallah in Palestine, and I write from there. The text observes the banal and the familiar in an attempt to redefine normality in a not-very-normal place, it also reflects on moments of loneliness and awkwardness of being alone as a woman in these restaurants, especially in this time of the pandemic.
In the video performance, I recite the text that I wrote and it is accessible through a QR code by solo diners in a restaurant in Switzerland during the ARTY SHOW event in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
I also created pop-up cards that contain drawings and fragments from the text and were displayed in the restaurant’s vitrine.
